The Government’s new Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023 was given Royal Assent in July 2023.
The changes will give more British workers flexibility over where and when they work. However, the Act will not take effect immediately, but it does give the Secretary of State the power to introduce regulations to bring them into force, which is likely to be in 2024.
58% of UK businesses currently offer flexible working, which is a significant difference compared to 2016 where 8.7% of roles were advertised as flexible.
