MEET ARC LEGAL GROUP’S UNDERWRITING TEAM

During 2023, Arc Legal Group bolstered its Underwriting Team and now have five Underwriters in the business, all based out of Arc Legal’s Colchester and Cardiff offices, a move reflective of the company’s ongoing growth.

The team collectively brings over 65 years of Legal Expenses Insurance (LEI) and assistance knowledge and experience as Arc Legal continues to build its profile and offering. The strategic decision to strengthen the Underwriting Team aligns with our commitment to providing solutions to emerging risks and adding value to existing risks.

With diverse expertise in pricing, underwriting, and data analytics, this will strengthen Arc Legal’s abilities to provide more tailored solutions to our partners with our growing range of ancillary insurance products and services.

Meet the team

Edward Hance, Director of Underwriting, has 15 years’ Before-the-Event (BTE) LEI and assistance experience at Arc Legal working across all classes. Edward has extensive experience operating and managing a variety of delegated authority arrangements. He has also provided underwriting consultancy services to a range of major UK insurers to assist them in underwriting their own LEI products and services.

Gary Kent, Senior Schemes Underwriter, has 30 years of experience in BTE LEI and assistance experience at DAS UK, Temple Legal Protection, Legal Protection Group, Geo Specialty and Arc Legal Group, having fulfilled various underwriting and product development roles including Senior Underwriter, Technical Manager and Underwriting Manager. Gary has also operated and managed a variety of delegated authority arrangements.

David Jennings, Senior Underwriter, holds 20 years of underwriting and brokering experience working for several companies including Lockton, Hiscox, and Arc Legal Group. David also has experience in operating and managing a variety of delegated authority arrangements.

Cameron Hillston, Underwriting Analyst, has 3 years’ experience at Admiral, including 2 years as a Data Analyst working in their specialist Data team in Cardiff.

William Smith, Underwriting Assistant, supports the daily administration within the Underwriting Team, and is involved with the production of contract performance reviews, new business administration processes, and the renewal of the business schedule.

The new team and their collective expertise, coupled with Arc Legal’s 21 plus years of LEI and assistance product and performance data, opens wider avenues for innovation, allowing us to explore untapped opportunities and seamlessly handle activities that were previously outside of our scope. This has positioned us perfectly to operate under full delegated authority with our various A rated capacity providers.
