ARC LEGAL IN THE NEWS… MY INSURANCE DOWNTIME, PETER HARVEY

If you’ve ever wondered what a Deputy Chief Executive does in his ‘downtime’, then we have a story for you!

When he’s not leading the Arc Legal Group team in developing and implementing its strategic growth plans, our Deputy CEO Peter Harvey has a very different role, he’s a successful beef farmer, with products stocked on the shelves of a major supermarket chain.

We’re pleased to see Peter featured in this Insurance Age series, which aims to give readers a peek into the lives of some of the industry’s leading professionals.

Peter has always been interested in farming, and gained a qualification in Agriculture when he was younger. This interest took him to NFU Mutual where he was able to combine his love of agriculture with business, which eventually led to the career he knows and loves today.

As a very busy member of the Arc Legal senior leadership team, downtime is perhaps not as frequent as he’d like, but Peter managed to establish his own part-time farming business in 2008, with a small herd of mostly Aberdeen Angus cattle.

He says of his passion: “Running a farm is hard work, but rewarding, I love nothing more than to take to the fields as the sun sets, enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside, though it’s somewhat less relaxing in the pouring Northern Irish rain!”
