Management of the Underwriting and Contract Management Team. Organisation and supervision of all client contract management activities. Oversight of the set up and periodic review of all contracts. Liaison with underwriters on the provision of capacity to support our products. Oversight of the management of third party product providers and to manage and provide commercial support on allocated accounts.

Main Tasks

Contract Management:

Ownership of the whole contract management process and oversight of all associated activities to include:

  • Control of the Contract Management System ensuring its effective use
  • Development of Contract Management System to meet the changing needs of the business at all times.
  • Reviewing, implementing and updating contract management processes
  • Management of the new business implementation process for all business lines
  • Management of the renewals process for all business lines
  • Responsibility for the recording of any changes to individual contracts terms and conditions on the CMS, including cancellation of contracts

Underwriting liaison:

Supporting the director responsible for our day-to-day relationship with legal expenses underwriters

  • Engagement in negotiations with underwriters to agree and vary terms of binding authorities as required
  • Control of the quotation management process for new business and renewals
  • Management of the renewal process on all contracts including first stage sign off to identify which contracts require repricing due to performance issues
  • Liaising with underwriters in the provision of information to assist them in agreeing quotation proposals
  • Meeting with underwriters to discuss the underwriting relationship
  • Oversight of the implementation of any changes in process agreed with underwriters

Account Management:

Ownership of allocated contracts and contract support on nominated accounts

  • Acting as principal point of contact with customers on allocated accounts with the aim of maintaining and developing the relationship with the customer, including preparing proposals for submission to clients
  • Maintenance of policy wordings on police contracts
  • Supporting as Commercial Support on nominated accounts / contracts to include analysing claims experiences and recommending terms and drafting underwriting papers for submission to the Underwriters
  • Arranging implementation of new contracts on allocated accounts.
  • Owning and supporting the negotiation of renewals/ repricing on allocated accounts
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities from existing relationships
  • Dealing with enquiries from customers on cover and policy terms
  • All activity surrounding cancellation of contracts where arrangements come to an end
  • Liaising with claims teams managers on any claims issues arising on nominated accounts

Team Supervision:

  • Day to day oversight of the Underwriting & Product Management Team.
  • Maintaining continual assessment and development of team to include monthly team meetings as required and annual appraisals.
  • Management and development of team and overall control and supervision of all of their activities.
  • Assisting the Directors in proactively identifying any scope for improvements in method of working or increasing productivity and implementing those changes.

General Tasks:

  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be set in agreement with the Directors
  • Ensuring all duties are carried out in accordance with company procedures and FCA regulations
  • Acting in the capacity of a Competent Advisor and complying with the conduct of business rules set by the regulator
  • Ad-hoc project work
  • Maintain secure, efficient and accurate filing systems in accordance with agreed procedures
