Based in Colchester, we work with insurers, intermediaries, financial institutions and affinity groups, focusing upon delivering bespoke solutions providing 'best in market' legal advice and case handling.

Our business model for legal expenses insurance involves outsourcing legal advice and the legal conduct of claims to top quality law firms.

Purpose of the role

You will be supporting the Governance Manager with the day to day management of the governance and assurance duties within the Business Control & Governance department. All duties are to be performed according to company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Main Tasks

  • Assist with coordination and completion of regulatory returns (e.g. FCA return) and/or information requests accurately and within agreed time scales.
  • Assist the Governance Manager with the completion of any information requests received from clients, underwriters and/or insurers.
  • Support the maintenance of the companies Compliance Activity and Compliance Monitoring logs.
  • Process Data Subject requests in accordance with company procedures.
  • Process Data Breaches in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor and maintain the companies Risk, Incident and Breach registers, ensuring actions are progressed and completed.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and information as may be required for the Director of Business Control and Governance to take into meetings.
  • Assist with the completion of client due diligence using REG:UK.
  • Deal with compliance alerts from REG:UK in accordance with company procedures.
  • Complete Quality Assurance checks on internal procedures.
  • Assist with conducting due diligence checks on legal suppliers and third-party suppliers, in accordance with company procedures.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to improve policies and procedures where necessary.
  • Use the ICS Compliance website and technical department for source material and information to support compliance activities.
  • Assist the Governance Manager with the preparation of bi-annual independent compliance meetings and /or audits.
  • Assist in maintaining oversight of clients with sub-delegation carrying out necessary checks as per company procedures.
  • Maintain the Compliance folders on the P: and/or T: Drive

General Tasks

  • To carry out work in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • To provide general assistance in the office and help/guidance to colleagues where appropriate.
  • Ad-hoc project work.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be set by the Governance Manager.
