AUDIT OFFICER

Arc Legal Assistance is a specialist provider of legal expenses insurance and related services. Based in Colchester, we work with insurers, intermediaries, financial institutions and affinity groups, focusing upon delivering bespoke solutions providing 'best in market' legal advice and case handling.

Our business model for legal expenses insurance involves outsourcing legal advice and the legal conduct of claims to top quality law firms.

Purpose of the role

You will be supporting the Audit Team Manager with their management of the auditing function within the Business Control & Governance Department. All duties are to be performed according to company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Main Tasks

  • § Complete audits in accordance with the annual Audit Schedule.
  • § Produce audit reports, making appropriate recommendations and actions which should be followed through to satisfactory conclusions.
  • § Assist with the preparation of the annual Audit Schedule.
  • § Maintain regular lines of communication with solicitors regarding ongoing audit matters, action points and/or areas of concern.
  • § Liaise with relevant staff members concerning output from solicitor & other third-party supplier audits.
  • § Support the Audit Team Manager in preparing audit related content for Solicitor Operations Calls and/or Meeting and attend these calls and meetings where necessary.
  • § Support the Audit Team Manager in preparing audit related content for Claims & Operations meetings.
  • § Demonstrate a good awareness of risk management and controls.
  • § Maintain the Audit folders in the P: and/or T: Drives
  • § Some work may involve making site visits to solicitors, suppliers and other business partners.

General Tasks

  • To carry out all work in accordance with agreed service standards and FCA regulations.
  • To provide general assistance in the office where appropriate.
  • Ad-hoc project work.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be set by the Audit Team Manager or Director of Business Control & Governance.

Experience and Person Specification

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organisational and time keeping skills
  • Confidence to own tasks without supervision
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong investigative and research skills
  • 5 GCSE’s grade A-C including English and Maths

Desirable

  • Experience of using all Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of Legal Expenses
  • Insurance Background
  • Auditing Experience
