ARC LEGAL DEBATES FUTURE OF LEGAL EXPENSES AT LEADING INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE

The Arc Legal team regularly participates in trade press events and provides media comment on relevant issues. Rebecca Conway our Claims Manager joined industry experts on a recent Insurance Age roundtable discussing some of the current issues facing the legal expenses insurance market.

The impact of Lord Justice Jackson’s proposals on the legal expenses market could lead to the development of standalone before the event (BTE) products. But, Rebecca affirmed Arc Legal’s support and commitment for the UK add-on market.

A possible ban on referral fees also featured in the debate. While this could have a negative effect on the after the event (ATE) market with solicitors being reluctant to take less favourable or complex claims where no referral fee is attached, Rebecca highlighted the opportunity such a move would have on the promotion and development of the BTE market.
