ARC LEGAL ADDS ‘CAR CLONING’ COVER TO MOTOR LEGAL PROTECTION

Arc Legal has developed cover for vehicle ID theft which is available as part of its Motor Legal Protection (MLP) product responding to escalating concerns over the impact of ˜car cloning”.

Recent publicity concerning the theft of blank V5 form log books from the DVLA, with approximately 120,000 documents still missing*, has highlighted the real potential for criminal gangs to copy the number plate and other identifying details of legitimate cars to use on stolen vehicles.

Commenting on the move, Richard Finan, Director of Arc Legal, said: “Recent reports suggest that vehicles worth £13 million have already been of cloned as result of the log books theft. Legitimate vehicle owners face unnecessary costs, fines and even prosecutions if their cloned vehicle is involved criminal or motoring offences. Our new cover offers direct help to these innocent motorists.”

Arc Legal’s cover now provides policyholders with cover for legal and representative costs to defend prosecutions such as speeding or other traffic offences, as a result of their car being cloned.

The Vehicle ID Theft cover will be made available to Arc Legal’s current and future motor clients at no extra cost as part of the MLP policy or as a separate add on product for a small premium.

Bluefin have become the first broker to include Arc Legal’s Vehicle ID Theft cover. This follows their appointment of WNS Assistance to provide motor claims assistance services. The WNS Assistance MLP policy is provided by Arc Legal.
