With offices in Cardiff, Colchester and London, we work with insurers, intermediaries, financial institutions and affinity groups, focusing upon delivering bespoke solutions providing ‘best in market’ legal advice and case handling.

Our business model for legal expenses insurance involves providing and outsourcing legal advice and the legal conduct of claims to top quality law firms.

Purpose of the Role:

To act as Legal Advisor for Arc Legal Assistance for all legal expenses insurance and assistance business received via the Cardiff office and deal with legal advice calls effectively and efficiently in a fair, accurate and consistent manner.

Main Tasks:

  • Act as Legal Advisor for Arc Legal Assistance for legal advice services in relation to legal expenses insurance and assistance business administered in the Cardiff office.
  • Ensure that calls are dealt with according to financial services industry and solicitors regulatory provisions.
  • Work with the Head of Legal Advice Centre for Arc Legal Assistance in developing Arc Legal Assistance’s wider business development and customer service objectives.
  • Maintain a high degree legal and technical knowledge and an excellent grasp of research methods.
  • Work closely with the Claims Team to provide information to assess claims.
  • Working routinely with partners to maintain relationships and swift resolution of disputes.

General Tasks:

  • To carry out all work in accordance with agreed service standards and FCA regulations
  • To provide general assistance in the office and help/guidance to colleagues where appropriate
  • Ad-hoc project work
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be set by the Head of Legal Advice Centre


  • Ability to communicate at all levels in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Aptitude for passing on complex information in a clear and easily digestible style.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, discretion and commitment.
  • Aptitude to work successfully in a cooperative environment with individuals of varied backgrounds and seniority. Be willing to undertake a variety of tasks.
  • Capacity to vary working practices or individual approach when necessary and balance office workload appropriately.
  • Understanding of the legal, financial and regulatory issues which affect the line of business.
  • Knowledge of telephone equipment and basic computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and claims management software (Eclipse, etc.).

Preferred Candidate Background:

  • Recognised legal qualification (Ideally a Law Degree and LPC or equivalent qualification)
  • Prior experience of having worked in the insurance sector in a legal advisor role.
  • Prior experience of legal expenses insurance and assistance business.
  • Enthusiastic, confident, professional and customer-orientated approach to work.
