Business Development Executive - Ireland

Arc Legal Assistance is a specialist provider of legal expenses insurance and related services. 
Based in Colchester, we work with insurers, intermediaries, financial institutions and affinity groups, focusing upon delivering bespoke solutions providing 'best in market' legal advice and case handling.

Our business model for legal expenses insurance involves outsourcing legal advice and the legal conduct of claims to top quality law firms.

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Relations, the Business Development Executive Ireland (BDE) will have responsibility for maintaining and increasing Arc Legal Assistance’s (‘Arc Legal’) market share and position in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in relation to the distribution and performance of its Legal Expenses Insurance and Assistance Services products.

The role will be to maintain the close business relationships which we have developed with our customers, thereby protecting existing contracts. The holder will also be strongly focussed on continually strengthening those relationships by identifying and exploiting opportunities for the creation of new business arrangements.

Key responsibilities include: -

 Business Development

  • Identifying and exploiting new opportunities and distribution channels for Arc Legal’s products
  • Developing new opportunities to distribute Arc Legal’s products to existing service and client partners where appropriate
  • Identifying, developing and distributing new products to new and existing partners
  • Identifying Marketing and Public Relations opportunities to promote the Arc Legal brand

 Account Management

  • Responsibility for all activities associated with the management of allocated Customer accounts
  • Maintaining regular contact with allocated accounts and responding to the customer’s requirements either via meetings, telephone or via another medium as appropriate to the issues to be discussed. The frequency of client meetings to be determined.

 Panel Solicitor, Service Partner and Claims Operations Management

  • Ensuring that all local claims processes are working effectively to deliver customers with a first class, end to end, claims service

 General Business Management

  • Providing advice to the Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance to ensure Arc Legal’s  continued compliance with local regulatory requirements
  • As and if required, perform a formal local management function for AmTrust Group, or any of its insurance company subsidiaries, in relation to its regulatory responsibilities as an insurance company domiciled in RoI.

General Tasks:

  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be set by the Director of Corporate Relations or Chief Executive Officer and/or Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
  • Ensuring all duties are carried out in accordance with Company Procedures, FCA and CBI Regulations.
  • Attendance at monthly Team Meetings and other internal and external stakeholder meetings where required.
  • Liaising with other departments in the operation of the role.

Key Interfaces


  • The Director of Corporate Relations, Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer to agree the continued effectiveness of the distribution strategy and customer service delivery
  • All internal departments.


  • Prospective new and existing Clients for Commercial Development opportunities and existing and new legal and other service providers and partners.

Limits of Authority

The BDE will work autonomously within agreed parameters, and will report to the Director of Corporate Relations at regular agreed intervals

Experience and Person Specification


  • Account management and / or Insurance experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organisational and time keeping skills
  • Confidence to own tasks without supervision
  • Experience of using all Microsoft Office programs


  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Good investigative and research skills
  • Knowledge of Legal Expenses
