CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY UPDATE - Q1

Arc Legal host ‘Charity Raffle’ to support the Tom Bowdidge Foundation.

To end a great year of fundraising for the Tom Bowdidge foundation, Arc Legal hosted a number of charity fundraising events throughout the month of December.

A charity raffle was organised; which offered some great prizes for both staff members and local companies, with all proceeds going towards the Foundation. Prizes ranged from coffee machines to 3 course meals, and the event was a huge success, raising over £1,200. In addition, a Christmas jumper day was also held alongside a Christmas decoration sale, raising another £300 in the process.

The Tom Bowdidge Foundation was set up in memory of Tom, who sadly passed away from a rare form of cancer at the age of 19. The foundation works tirelessly to raise donations to fund research projects and support for young people with the illness; and we are delighted to have raised over £2,600 during 2015.

Theft drama in Arc Legal sponsored charity drive!

An Arc Legal sponsored charity drive had a dramatic end after the car used for the drive was stolen following completion of the 2,000 mile journey.

The owner and two drivers of Riverside Taxis, a local company, purchased a near ‘antique’ 1988 Vauxhall Nova, and appealed to local businesses to sponsor the non-stop journey from Manningtree to John O’Groats via Land’s End, to raise funds for the Children with Cancer UK charity, and a local care home, Acorn Village.

The cramped journey was completed in 48 hours, and £6,500 was raised in total, with the logos of all sponsors plastered all over the Nova!

Following the drive, the car was stolen from Riverside HQ, and the owners spread word of the theft in a bid to find the unique Vauxhall. The car was spotted in a nearby town shortly after, and despite some parts being stolen, was in good condition.

We were delighted to have sponsored such a worthy local cause and help contribute towards the fantastic total raised. For more information on both Children with Cancer and Acorn Villages, please see www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk and www.acornvillages.com.
