ARC PEOPLE – KERRY KNIEF

Hello Kerry, firstly could you tell us about your role and responsibilities as our Senior Corporate Relations Manager?

In my role I work closely with a number of our key clients to ensure we are providing a high-quality service to them and their customers, and they are happy with the products provided. I also aim to strengthen these relationships by identifying further ways we can work together, whether that’s introducing a new product to their portfolio or enhancing the current products we are providing.

Having been in the industry for over 20 years, could you please tell us a little bit about the value measures of add-on products?

Ancillary products form an important part of our partners product portfolios, designed to complement and add value to the core product.  The ancillary market is constantly evolving, with an ever-increasing focus on provision of products that deliver demonstratable value. Our approach has always been to provide products and services that are tailored to the needs of the customer base to ensure they are getting a product that is fit for purpose, and therefore a continued market focus on value fits our business culture perfectly.

The increasing use of technology, I believe, will play a part in the shape of ancillary products. Our Personal Cyber Insurance policy is a great example of how we are responding to the ever-increasing digital world, but there are also some interesting ways that technology can complement ancillary products that have been established for several years. For example, the upcoming Personal Injury reforms have allowed us to create efficiencies in the claims journey for Motor Legal Expenses claims, in partnership with our panel solicitor partners, which will ultimately create a better journey for customers. Behind the scenes, technology is an integral part of our journey, removing what can be cumbersome manual processes, so we can spend more time servicing our clients and their customers.

As well as ancillary products, you have a wealth of broader experience in the insurance market, how have you been able to apply this experience to your role at Arc?

My previous experience has given me a good understanding of the insurance market and client needs.  I have helped develop various ancillary products in the past so understand the importance of not becoming complacent whilst ensuring that the products evolve with the current market.

The corporate relations team has grown and developed significantly since you joined in January 2019, is this an exciting time to be part of the Arc Legal team?

It is a very exciting time to be part of the team, there has been a number of positive changes over the past few years and more recently the process of incorporating Composite Legal, another AmTrust business, into Arc Legal. AmTrust acquired Legal Insurance Management (LIM) in August 2019 which gives us further complimentary capabilities for ancillary products, and in particular their fully developed home emergency offering. These exciting changes will allow us to cement our relationships with key clients.

And to finish off, a non-insurance related question! What do you like to do in your spare time? Any interesting hobbies or pastimes?

I love traveling and seeing new places with my family and friends. As soon as Christmas is over we start planning our camping trips and holidays for the year ahead.  I also enjoy a music festival, I am a big fan of all types of music.  I play the piano but am a bit out of practice, however I have just persuaded my daughter to start learning so it’s a perfect excuse to get a piano back in the house again.
